Using Caution While Cleaning Your Gutters

Maintenance and cleaning of canals is an essential part of maintaining your home exterior. This is a job you can do yourself provided you do so safely. Here are some safety tips before starting work.

1. Make sure the scale used is tough. Set squarely on the ground. Stay away from any straw, mulch, or anything that might impede the scale of fixed firmly on the ground.

2. If using an extension ladder and have to lean against the gutters, cut a small 2x4, at least as wide as the stairs and place inside the gutter. This will give business area to lean against the scale and reduce the risk of damaging the creek.

10. Always stay away from power lines.
